About the Foundation Who can apply for a grant? Applications are welcomed from all sections of the community. Your organisation does not have to be a registered charity but it must have charitable objectives. Applications should be sent to: The Jempson Foundation c/o Jempson’s Ltd Main Street Peasmarsh Nr. (Please print, complete and return this, applications cannot be submitted online) Please don’t overload your application with attachments, send only relevant information. We advise you to take a copy of your application and retain it for your own records. What will happen next? We aim to respond to your application within two weeks We may contact you by telephone to discuss your application What is the maximum donation? The maximum donation to any cause will be £500. The amount of donations made per annum will depend on resources. Where will we get our funds from? We receive over £10,000 per year from: A proportion of profits from the Jempson’s Group of companies Trustees who make individual donations Dividends from shares held in the Jempson’s Group of companies Contributions from Jempson’s Suppliers and Business Partners Interest on investments Employees of Jempson’s Ltd under a proposed payroll giving scheme Exclusions Events such as Conferences, Seminars and Exhibitions Expeditions and Overseas Travel Holidays and Outings Large, well-staffed organisations with a greater fund – raising capacity Mini-buses other than community transport schemes Loans or repayment of loans Research – academic and medical Retrospective grants Payment of debts How will we operate? The Jempson Foundation will make donations to organisations with charitable objectives in the South East of England. How will we be managed? Two voluntary Trustees manage the Foundation. They include the Company Secretary of Jempson’s Ltd and a senior director of the company. The Foundation will be managed by a part time Administrator. Who will we support? We would like to support registered organisations that ‘make a difference’ We prefer to support locally managed activity, estate-based and neighbourhood projects Less popular and harder to fund causes will be given priority, as will projects which involve clients and customers of Jempson’s We will only consider arts, environmental, educational and health projects if they have a focus on the needs of disadvantaged people and/or are located in deprived areas Where do we aim to help people? Principally organisations with charitable objectives within 25 miles of Jempson’s Head Office in Peasmarsh, East Sussex. You can download an application form here.
