Foundation Contribution Hits the Back of the Net Stephen, September 28, 2010January 28, 2016 The plight of Rye United Football Club received a welcome boost with a £500 donation towards the cost of rebuilding the Sidney Allnutt Pavilion struck by arson from the Foundation. Stephen Jempson said “We where very saddened when we read about the arson attack in the Rye & Battle Observer, and we felt compelled to help the club in its quest to return to its own ground. Having been in a position ourselves in 1997 when nearly everything you have worked for is lost by fire you need all the support you can to carry on”. Andrew Jempson continued “The club has done a considerable amount of work on The Salts ground and this crime has undermined all that, we felt overwhelmingly that we had to assist”. Clive Taylor Chairman of R.U.F.C. said “We are very grateful for the generous contribution from the Jempson Foundation, particularly that a local retailer has been able to support us whereas prospective national chains have not. It is vital that we can attract financial help with the running costs of both the 1st team and reserves, given that we have no income from home games which now have to be played away, due to the actions of mindless vandals”.
